Strawberries and roses take centre stage in the recipe for Crespo Luna Rosa. Strawberries from Huelva are combined with Ecuadorian rose petals, angelica root and orange blossom. Andean water brings the gin to 37.5% alcohol, while monk fruit adds a light sweetness. The bottling contains no colouring or artificial flavourings.

The botanical selection also includes juniper, coriander, cassia cinnamon and lemon. Luna Rosa has added a fruity, floral option to the Crespo range since 2019. The pink gin comes in a bottle with vertical fluting containing 0.7 litres. It can be served over ice or with tonic water, garnished with a strawberry or a rose petal.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe strawberries mingle with delicate rose blossom on the nose. Juniper remains a subtle note in the background.
• Palate: Strawberries shape the soft, fruity impression on the palate. Rose blossom complements the fruit, while a light lemon note adds another accent. Orange blossom, angelica root, coriander and cassia cinnamon appear in the background. Monk fruit rounds out the profile with gentle sweetness.
• Finish: The finish fades gently and lingers, retaining its fruity character.

Distillery/Bottler:

Crespo traces its origins to Gustavo Crespo Vintimilla, who learned distilling at the family-owned Uzhupud distillery in Ecuador’s Azuay province. After retiring, he developed the original gin recipe, and commercial sales began in 2016. His son Gustavo Crespo Urgellés continued the project. The brand produces its spirits at a small distillery in Durán.

Crespo’s production approach includes neutral alcohol made from sugar cane and water from the Andes. The water comes from El Cajas National Park. In its botanical selection, the brand combines Ecuadorian raw materials with ingredients from other regions. Alongside the classic London Dry, the range includes the fruity, floral Luna Rosa and the cask-aged Legacy.
