Special Features:

The whisky was distilled on 31 March 2015 and matured for ten years in first-fill Port barrique no. 3345. It was bottled on 6 August 2025 at its natural cask strength of 57.2%, yielding 280 bottles from the single cask. The bottling is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Its sweet, creamy Port fruit contrasts with a powerful peaty and ashy undertone. The aromatic spectrum encompasses red and dark berries, plum compote, candied cherries, cocoa, milk chocolate, spice, wood and tannins. During the long finish, the fruity sweetness gradually recedes as maritime sea air becomes more prominent.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines powerful peat smoke, red berry cream and whipped cream with ripe red fruit, spice and a hint of oak.
• Palate: The whisky feels dense and powerful on the palate. Meaty peat and smoke meet creamy dark Port fruit, berry compote, dried fruit and milk chocolate, while spice and fine tannins keep the sweetness in balance.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming. Maritime sea air increasingly comes to the fore as the fruity sweetness slowly recedes.

Distillery/Bottler:

The distillery behind this Speyside single malt has not been disclosed. Michel Reick founded Best Dram as an independent bottling range and has released selected single-cask bottlings under the label since 2014. For Curious Ash, he selected cask no. 3345 and bottled the whisky matured in it at its natural cask strength.
