Sherry cask maturation is central to D.R.K.N.S.S. Batch 2. This Highland Single Malt comes from an undisclosed distillery and carries no age statement. Asta Morris bottled the whisky at 46% in 0.7-litre bottles. The numbered release comprises 601 bottles, with no chill filtration or added colouring.

Notes of mango, peach and baked apples add to the fruity, nutty character. Butter toffee and coffee chocolates complement a gentle spiciness. The richly illustrated label depicts an intricately intertwined world of faces and fantastical figures.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dried fruit and delicate spices meet woodland notes. Hints of red fruit, apple fritters, malt sugar and almond pastries join them.
• Palate: On the palate, nutty notes combine with a gentle sweetness.
• Finish: The medium-length finish fades sweetly with a slight tingle.

Distillery/Bottler:

Asta Morris is an independent Belgian bottler based in Ingooigem. Founder Bert Bruyneel initially explored whisky as a writer and tasting organiser. He had already co-founded the Wee Dram Whisky Society in 1999; Asta Morris was established in 2009. Its first own bottling followed in 2010, with a Glenlivet distilled in 1977.

Selecting individual whisky casks is a major focus of the company. Bruyneel's longstanding connection with Billy Walker also led to several official Benriach bottlings for Asta Morris. He later expanded the range to include rum and French brandies. To mature its NOG! gin, the company uses former whisky casks from its own bottling programme.
