Special Features:

The Oloroso Sherry Hogshead #40236 lends this single-cask release dark dried fruit and spicy oak without obscuring Dailuaine’s robust character. Distilled on 6 October 2008, the single malt matured for 16 years in this cask before being bottled in April 2025 for The Single Malts of Scotland. The cask yielded 286 bottles at 56.7% ABV.

The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. It comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Dried figs and dark raisins mingle on the nose with caramel and dark chocolate. Vanilla and cinnamon round out the sherry character.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and sweet on the palate. Sherry, nuts, caramel and dried fruit meet spice and spicy oak, followed by a malty note.
• Finish: The finish is long-lasting: sherry and dried fruit remain present, accompanied by delicate oak spice and a slightly balsamic impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

William Mackenzie built Dailuaine Distillery in Speyside in 1851. Long fermentation, rapid distillation and reduced copper contact in the condensers contribute to its heavy, almost meaty spirit. By the late 19th century, Dailuaine was a large and innovative Speyside distillery.

Elixir Distillers selected the cask for The Single Malts of Scotland and bottled the whisky independently of the distillery. Co-founder Sukhinder Singh released his first single-cask bottling in 2002. Formerly known as Speciality Drinks, the bottling business has carried the name Elixir Distillers since 2017.
