Special Features:

This 17-year-old Highland single malt initially matured in American white oak casks that had previously held bourbon. For the finish, The Dalmore brought together seven whisky components: six were finished respectively in casks previously used for vintage Calvados, aged Calvados, Matusalem sherry, Apostoles sherry, Bordeaux red wine and Châteauneuf-du-Pape red wine. The seventh component matured entirely in American white oak ex-bourbon casks.

The 2025 edition is limited to 20,000 bottles worldwide and comes in a specially designed presentation case. Its complex cask composition combines orchard fruit and vanilla with dark cocoa, spices and ripe berries.

The whisky is bottled at 49.2% in a 0.7-litre bottle; it is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Lively orchard fruits lead on the nose, followed by Madagascan vanilla and cinnamon, with delicate accents of rose water.
• Palate: On the palate, butterscotch, red apple and tarte Tatin mingle with dark cocoa, liquorice and gentle wood spice, while cardamom, Seville orange and green tea add further accents.
• Finish: Dried apricot, ripe blackberry, fresh brioche and gently lingering cassia bark define the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Dalmore Distillery produced this single malt and released it as a distillery bottling in 2025. For the third Luminary edition, Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass and Master Distiller Richard Paterson OBE developed the whisky together with architect Ben Dobbin of Foster + Partners. Curated in partnership with V&A Dundee, the Luminary Series brings together whisky making and architectural design.
