Special Features:

This 2 Masters edition brings together Dictador rums from the 1979 and 1982 vintages. The components are 40–43 years old and matured in Colombia in American oak casks previously used for whiskey. The blend then received a 45-month finish in three selected casks at Barton 1792 in the USA. It was bottled on 10 August 2022 at 46%, with a release of 150 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, toasted coconut and lime zest mingle with oak spice and a hint of vanilla. Fresh pineapple and pine add to the aromas.
• Palate: The rum feels soft and delicate on the palate. Toasted marshmallow appears first, followed by juicy tropical fruit and, finally, a return of lightly toasted coconut.
• Finish: Menthol and ginger come to the fore on the finish, adding freshness and spice to the delicate tropical fruit notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Dictador has its roots in Cartagena, Colombia, with a history stretching back to 1913. Master Blender Hernan Parra continues the family's work in its third generation. For the 2 Masters range, he entrusts selected rum vintages to partners from the wine and spirits world, who oversee their further maturation in their own cellars and casks.

For this edition, Hernan Parra collaborates with Drew Mayville of Barton 1792. Founded in 1879, the distillery is located in Bardstown, Kentucky, and has 29 maturation warehouses. Mayville combines his role as Master Blender with responsibility for quality at Sazerac. Within this partnership, Barton handles the further maturation of the Colombian rum; the edition is released as an official Dictador bottling.
