For this 2 Masters edition, Dictador rum from the 1979 and 1982 vintages was entrusted to Barton. Under the direction of Barton's Cellar Master, the rum matured for a further 45 months in selected casks that had previously held wheated bourbon.

Dark sweetness and polished wood notes meet fruit and spices. Chocolate and treacle toffee shape the nose; leather, sandalwood, pineapple and apple define the palate. The long finish combines strawberry and oak spice with lingering vanilla. The edition was bottled in 2022 at 46%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with dark chocolate and treacle toffee. A pronounced note of polished antique wood joins them. Candied ginger, cinnamon, allspice and vanilla complete the bouquet.
• Palate: The rum is robust on the palate, with pronounced leather and sandalwood notes. Hints of pineapple and red apple meet runny honey. Ginger emerges as the palate develops, followed at the end by lightly sweetened coffee with gentle warmth.
• Finish: The finish is long and semi-sweet. Hints of strawberry accompany oak spice and lingering vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Dictador produced the Colombian rum for this edition. The brand's history in Cartagena dates back to 1913; Master Blender Hernan Parra represents the third generation of the Parra family. For the 2 Masters range, he collaborates with specialists from other spirits and wine producers, who give selected rums further maturation in their respective speciality casks.

Barton 1792 handled the further maturation as the partner for this edition. Founded in 1879, the bourbon distillery is located in Bardstown, Kentucky. Its grounds include 29 warehouses for cask maturation and the Tom Moore Spring.
