Special Features:

Four decades of cask ageing shape this vintage Armagnac from Domaine de Baraillon. Distilled in 1983, it was bottled on 9 May 2023 at 41%. Its fruit notes range from dark berries to candied pineapple, with vanilla and toasted oak complementing its mature character.

This Armagnac is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in a wooden box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dark forest berries mingle with green apple, pear and kiwi. This fruit gradually gives way to the spicy sweetness of dried fruit. Vanilla pods and toasted oak appear in the background.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet raspberry jam and elder syrup meet candied pineapple, juicy orange and dates. Floral notes, vanilla cream and walnuts complete the flavours.
• Finish: The fruit notes linger for a long time, fading through a range of fruity nuances.

Distillery/Bottler:

Domaine de Baraillon is situated in Lannemaignan in Bas-Armagnac, on the border between Gers and Landes. The same family has farmed the estate since 1748. SCEA Claverie is the company behind the Domaine. Its approximately 20 hectares of vineyards grow on sandy-clay soils known locally as Sables Fauves. The grape varieties cultivated are Folle Blanche, Colombard and Baco.

The house style includes distillation at an output strength of 52%. The spirits then mature in casks made from local oak in the estate’s old cellars. Viticulture, distillation and cellar ageing are all part of the Domaine’s work.
