This vintage Armagnac preserves its origins in a single estate: for the Unique Collection, Darroze blends neither different estates nor different vintages. The spirit produced at Domaine de Lamarquette in 1988 underwent single distillation and matured for 38 years in French oak. The series uses oak casks with a capacity of 420 litres for maturation.

The Armagnac was bottled in April 2026 as Brut de fût, meaning without dilution with water. Its cask strength is 50%. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals ripe apricot and quince with delicate citrus notes. Cinnamon and vanilla complement the fruit, with liquorice adding a subtle accent.
• Palate: On the palate, pronounced oak and woody notes sit alongside soft vanilla sweetness. The fruit is dense, and the Armagnac is full-bodied and balanced.
• Finish: Fruity notes and delicate spice linger in balance through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Domaine de Lamarquette is located in Castandet in Bas-Armagnac. The estate has three hectares of vineyards on the yellow-brown sandy soils characteristic of the area, known as Sables fauves. Darroze includes the estate’s Armagnacs in the Unique Collection with their distinct provenance preserved.

The history of Darroze is linked to the family restaurant in Villeneuve-de-Marsan. There, Jean Darroze introduced his son Francis to wine and the spirits of Gascony. From the late 1960s, Francis actively sought out Armagnacs from small estates; in 1974, his selection of the first three casks laid the foundations of the house.

Marc Darroze joined in 1994 and now runs the company. He selects both older stocks and young spirits and oversees their continued maturation in the cellars of Roquefort and Labastide d’Armagnac. The focus is on the individual character of the participating estates rather than a uniform house style.
