Doorly's 14 Year Old brings together two distillation methods and two cask types. This molasses rum combines lighter column-still distillates with heavier pot-still distillates. It matures for fourteen years in former bourbon and Madeira casks, bringing different distillate characters together with influences from whiskey and wine maturation.

Before bottling, the rum is reduced to 48% alcohol. No sugar, other sweeteners or flavourings are added. Caramel colouring E150a is used to adjust the colour. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, oak and vanilla mingle with sweet grapes whose wine-like character recalls Zinfandel.
• Palate: The palate is rich yet gentle. Sweet tropical fruits, juicy apples and toffee appear at first, with a spicy ginger note underneath.
• Finish: Wood, prunes and blackcurrants linger in the long finish. Ginger, oak and cinnamon meet dark chocolate and a mild bitterness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Foursquare Rum Distillery is located in Barbados on the site of a former sugar factory dating from the 17th century. The family business is shaped by Richard Seale, the fourth generation of his family in the rum trade. In 1996, he placed a technical focus on the distillery's development with new still designs.

Foursquare's approach combines copper pot stills with column distillation. Doorly's rums are made from fermented molasses; distillation, maturation, blending and bottling all take place on site in Barbados. The brand belongs to the Seale family's portfolio.
