Special Features:

For Dragonjuice Speyside Batch #2, Whisky Druid combined ten-year-old single malt from casks that had previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry, ruby port and Portuguese Moscatel, respectively. The three cask components bring together fruit compote and dark grapes with caramelised brown sugar and a subtle herbal note.

The whisky was bottled at 50.2% without chill filtration or added colouring. It comes from Speyside, Scotland; the distillery behind this bottling is not named.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, raisins, dark fruit compote and grapes meet lightly caramelised brown sugar and milk chocolate. Redcurrants add a fresher accent; red berries become more prominent over time.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is rounded and soft. Caramelised brown sugar and delicate herbal spice give way to fruity sweetness, dark grapes and ripe blackberries, with an occasional touch of tart freshness. The alcohol is well integrated.
• Finish: The medium-length finish is soft and warm, with fruity sweetness and a subtle herbal note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Michel Reick assembled Batch #2 as an independent bottler for his Whisky Druid brand. For Dragonjuice, he combines cask components from a single distillery into a small batch rather than releasing the whisky as a single-cask bottling.

Reick also selects casks for his Best Dram range, which focuses on single-cask bottlings. Dragonjuice shows another side of his work: here, the selection and combination of casks with different previous contents define the whisky’s character.
