The set contains 0.02 litres each of ElsBurn The Journey 2023 at 43%, WillowBurn Ember Batch 003 at 45.9% and Emperor's Way Imperial Abbey Batch 002 at 48%. The three miniatures are presented together in a metal tin.

ElsBurn The Journey 2023 has a mild, fruity and spicy style with vanilla, raisins and oak. WillowBurn Ember combines malt, chocolate, coffee, citrus fruit, raisins, roasted almonds and caramel with the influence of various fortified and sweet-wine casks. Emperor's Way Imperial Abbey provides the smoky counterpoint: this peated single malt matures in first-fill sherry casks and combines smoke with dried fruit, chocolate and oak.

All three single malts are bottled without added colouring or chill filtration. This makes the set ideal for a direct comparison of the distillery's fruity, sherry-led, delicately smoky and heavily peated styles.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: ElsBurn The Journey 2023 combines oak spice, caramel, nuts and raisins with coffee and roasted notes.
• Palate: On the palate, ElsBurn The Journey 2023 shows vanilla, raisins, orange and mandarin, accompanied by oak.
• Finish: Fine smoke, oak, orange zest and coffee linger in the long finish of ElsBurn The Journey 2023.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hercynian Distilling began filling its first whisky casks in the Harz region in 2002; the first Harz single malt followed in 2005 after the prescribed maturation period. The distillery uses malted barley, ferments the wort for up to 164 hours in French oak washbacks and distils it twice in wood-fired pot stills. Sherry casks account for around 60% of its cask inventory, supplemented by numerous other wine and bourbon casks. Bottling, corking, sealing and labelling are also carried out by hand at the distillery.
