Special Features:

EMILL Kraftwerk matures for five years in the historic Scheibel mill in Kappelrodeck. The distillery bottles this single malt at 58.7% ABV. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The whisky is distilled twice in three hand-hammered copper stills. The spirit then rests for 48 hours in a 2,000-litre oak pre-maturation vessel. From there, it flows into the casks by gravity alone, without pumps. The whisky matures across four floors of the mill, where different climatic zones are shaped by the changing seasons and moisture from the water flowing beneath the building.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is concentrated and dense, with toffee, caramel and roasted coffee.
• Palate: Malt and dark chocolate combine with fresh fruit and mixed peppercorns on the palate. Oak is noticeable but does not dominate.
• Finish: The finish is very long and spicy, fading dry with ginger.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Scheibel Whisky Mühle stands in Kappelrodeck in the Black Forest and has belonged to the Scheibel family since 1890. The former mill was restored for whisky production while retaining its historic features. Michael Scheibel commissioned a distillation system used exclusively for whisky, applying the traditional pot-still principle with three hand-hammered copper stills. A water turbine in the cellar supplies some of the energy used in production. The site is operated by Emil Scheibel Schwarzwald-Brennerei GmbH.
