Special Features:

Smoky Black is the peat-forward expression of The Famous Grouse and succeeded The Black Grouse. This Blended Scotch combines grain whisky with selected malt whiskies, including rare peated malt from Glenturret. The selection gives the blend its pronounced smoky character while preserving its softer side.

Dried fruit, spice, caramel sweetness and oak accompany the peat smoke. This 1-litre bottling is 40% ABV and is coloured with caramel.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings peat smoke and a subtle musky note. Liquorice, a little citrus and spice complete the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, smoke and oak meet spice and dried fruit. Caramel adds sweetness to the soft texture, alongside a hint of dark chocolate.
• Finish: Smoke and a light peaty note linger on the finish, accompanied by sweet vanilla and a touch of spice.

The story of The Famous Grouse began in Perthshire in 1896 with a blend created by Matthew Gloag. Matthew Gloag & Son Ltd produces the 1-litre bottling of Smoky Black. Since July 2025, the brand has belonged to the William Grant & Sons group; its owner is William Grant & Sons Brands Limited. Smoky Black continues the blending tradition with a notably peated selection of malt whiskies, including a contribution from Glenturret, complemented by grain whisky.
