Special Features:

Whole wheat from Bötzingen takes the lead in this Double Grain whisky, while rye adds earthy spice. All the grain comes from the Bötzingen area. It is milled locally and processed as an unmalted grain mash; malt and spring water are also part of the recipe.

The whisky matures for at least three and a half years in new American and new European oak. Whole grain, bread, brioche and freshly milled muesli shape its character. A soft texture meets the casks’ firm oak structure. It is bottled unfiltered at 45%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, spicy rye combines with delicate sweetness and lightly nutty wheat notes.
• Palate: The whisky feels warm and gentle on the palate. Sourdough, dried fruit, caramel and vanilla shape its flavour.
• Finish: The long finish fades with spicy oak notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Trained winemaker Florian Faude founded Faude feine Brände in 2006 in Bötzingen, in the Kaiserstuhl region. Farmers Helmut Stoll and Alfred Maier Junior grow the rye and wheat for Faude’s grain spirits, and Adler Mühle in Bahlingen mills the whole grain.

Faude ferments the unmalted grain mash at 36°C and distils it within 72 hours. The first distillation in a pot still is followed by a carefully controlled spirit run through a column to preserve the aromas. Florian Faude selects the heart cut himself by smell. The rye and wheat whisky is the distillery’s own unfiltered bottling.
