Fercullen Single Malt Cask Strength 2024 launches the annual series of cask-strength releases of Single Malt produced entirely at Powerscourt Distillery. Local barley, Wicklow mountain water, triple distillation and maturation in ex-bourbon casks on the Powerscourt Estate connect this release to its home. The whiskey was bottled at 56.6%, without chill filtration or added colouring. The series is intended to let drinkers explore how the distillery and its whiskeys develop over the years.

Green fruit notes recall both orchard fruit and exotic fruit. Malty pastries add another dimension, alongside a creaminess shaped by maturation in bourbon casks.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cakes glazed with brown sugar, stewed apple and rhubarb mingle with toffee and vanilla cream.
• Palate: The palate reveals dulce de leche, a caramelised milk cream, alongside brown-butter shortbread and poached pears.
• Finish: The intense finish recalls thick vanilla cream, crushed peppercorns, nutmeg and leather.

Distillery/Bottler:

Powerscourt Distillery is the distillery behind Fercullen and occupies the historic mill building on the Powerscourt Estate in County Wicklow. Whiskey has been distilled here since 2018. The site also has its own maturation warehouse, where whiskeys are married and casks are filled for further maturation.

The launch of the distillery's first Fercullen Single Malt in 2023 marked the return of a whiskey distilled in Wicklow after more than a hundred years without such a release. The 2024 cask-strength edition builds on this triple-distilled Single Malt matured in ex-bourbon casks.
