Special Features:

Fourteen years in ex-bourbon barrels made from American white oak define this travel-retail release. Maturation exclusively in these casks brings out Fettercairn’s fresh, tropical-fruit style. This Highland single malt is bottled at 46%, with natural colour and without chill filtration. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

A copper cooling ring on each still also contributes to the distillery’s fruit-led style: water runs down the outside of the still neck, encouraging reflux inside. This produces a lighter spirit whose character develops further during maturation in ex-bourbon barrels.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Tropical and ripe orchard fruits mingle on the nose with blossom honey, brioche and delicate sweet spice.
• Palate: Ripe pineapple, vanilla, light cocoa and cinnamon appear on the palate; adding a little water makes the texture creamy.
• Finish: Spiced apricots, toffee, toasted almonds and sweet baking spices linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Fettercairn Distillery was founded in 1824 at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains in the Scottish Highlands. Water from the estate once powered the mill that stood there before the distillery. Today, water flows over copper cooling rings on the stills. This design encourages the light, tropical-fruit style during distillation. Fettercairn is part of Whyte & Mackay Limited’s brand portfolio; the fourteen-year-old single malt is an original distillery bottling.
