FINE Spritz combines the idea of an Italian orange aperitivo with the processing of plant ingredients in the Black Forest. For this alcohol-free speciality, Wild combines steam distillation with the extraction and maceration of various botanicals. Bitter orange and bergamot contribute citrus aromas, while rhubarb adds sweetness and gentle acidity. Gentian and bitter orange provide a bitter counterpoint and a long finish.

This vegan aperitif provides a base for alcohol-free long drinks and cocktails. To make a spritz, combine one part FINE Spritz with two parts tonic water, ice cubes and a slice of orange. Alternatively, it can be mixed with alcohol-free sparkling wine. The bottle contains 0.7 litres, and the product received 95 points at the 2024 Falstaff awards.

Alongside water and sugar, the recipe includes plant extracts, citric acid, natural flavouring and quinine flavouring. It contains the colours E124, E102 and E110, which may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, juicy orange combines with bergamot and bitter orange. Earthy hints of gentian and a slightly tart rhubarb note complete the aromas.
• Palate: Sweet fruit meets pronounced spice on the palate. Bitter orange and lively rhubarb shape the flavour, while gentian adds a delicate bitterness.
• Finish: The bitterness lingers for a long time. Citrus fruit and botanical notes persist, with gentian and bitter orange defining the bitter finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

WILD Schwarzwaldbrennerei & Weingut GmbH is based in Gengenbach. The Wild family has grown fruit and grapes and distilled in copper stills since 1855. Through greater specialisation, Franz Wild Senior developed the former mixed farming business into a distillery. Today, brothers Manuel, Max and Lukas continue to run the distillery and winery: Manuel is responsible for winemaking, Max for spirits production and Lukas for sales.

With Wild Virgins, the family expanded its range to include alcohol-free alternatives. The initiative was inspired by the approaching birth of the first grandchild and the wish to offer a suitable alternative for the expectant mother. FINE Spritz is part of this range and is made using steam distillation as well as the extraction and maceration of various botanicals.
