Special Features:

This Caribbean blend brings together the lighter character of Barbados rum and the fruity ester notes of Jamaican distillates. Made from molasses, it combines rums distilled in pot stills and continuously operating column stills. They mature for at least five years in a tropical climate before a brief period of further maturation in continental Europe. American white oak and French oak are used for cask maturation.

Oldman Spirits bottles the rum at 40% in 0.7-litre bottles. It contains no colouring and receives 17 g of added sugar per litre. Tropical fruit, coconut and vanilla mingle with pastry and wood notes. This rum is suitable both for drinking neat and for cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet pastry notes mingle with coconut, vanilla and tropical fruit. Light woody tones round out the aromas.
• Palate: Papaya, mango and coconut initially lead on the palate, followed by delicate, spicy wood notes. A hint of raisin joins pear, almond, vanilla and touches of chocolate. Guava and a little banana lend a slightly fermenting fruit character. Delicate milk chocolate and cinnamon notes meet a subtle cask-derived bitterness.
• Finish: Fruit, vanilla and spices linger on the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

FRC stands for Flensburg Rum Company and belongs to Oldman Spirits, based in Jübek in Schleswig-Holstein. The company develops rum blends and releases single-cask bottlings. Its own brands also include Spirits of Old Man and Captain Cane.

What began as an entirely manual operation has grown into a business with its own cask warehouse and semi-automatic and fully automatic bottling lines. Oldman Spirits also develops and bottles products for other brands. FRC mainly releases single-cask and small-batch rums, with Caribbean Rum complementing the range as a standard blend. When the change from Flensburg Rum Company to FRC was introduced in 2023, it received a new bottle design while its recipe remained unchanged.
