Special Features:

This single grain was distilled at Girvan in December 1989 and matured for 31 years in ex-bourbon cask 14434. Douglas Laing bottled it in June 2021 as part of the Xtra Old Particular range for Hermann Brothers. This single-cask release was bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.9% and limited to 206 bottles of 0.7 litres each.

The whisky contains no added colouring and was not chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines vanilla cream and dried fruit with a hint of oak spice.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied on the palate, where ripe berries and caramel meet delicate notes of cinnamon and nutmeg.
• Finish: The finish is long and warm, with lingering vanilla and oak that fade gently.

Distillery/Bottler:

William Grant & Sons built Girvan Distillery in 1963 at the initiative of Charles Gordon, a great-grandson of the company's founder. Distillation began on Christmas Day that same year, less than nine months after construction started. Girvan was established to ensure a continuous supply of grain whisky for Grant's, a role it continues to fulfil today.

Douglas Laing bottled this Girvan under the Xtra Old Particular label. The range is dedicated to old and rare single-cask Scotch whiskies bottled at their natural cask strength.
