Special Features:

This Glen Elgin matured for 36 years in a single hogshead. It was distilled on 22 November 1988 and bottled by Signatory Vintage from cask 4318 on 23 May 2025. The cask yielded 61 bottles at a natural cask strength of 43.7% for Symington’s Choice within the Cask Strength Collection. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Alongside apricot, candied citrus peel, honey and malt biscuits, this bottling offers softer notes of apple and pear, waxy lemon and hazelnut. Furniture polish, leather, herbs and oak bring mature, spicy notes to its fruity profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe apricots, candied orange peel and creamy honey meet gentle oak spice, furniture polish and a hint of dried ginger.
• Palate: The whisky feels velvety on the palate. Vanilla pastries, yellow fruits and malt sweets mingle with old leather, delicate herbs and a little nutmeg.
• Finish: The long, balanced finish brings almond oil, gentle oak and a little citrus zest, becoming gradually drier.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Elgin was completed in Speyside in 1898. Today the distillery operates six stills and traditional worm tubs, in which the alcohol vapour condenses. It produced the single malt for this bottling; Signatory Vintage selected and bottled the whisky from the individual cask.

Andrew Symington and his brother founded Signatory Vintage in Edinburgh in 1988. Since 2007, the business has been based entirely at the Edradour distillery site in Pitlochry. As an independent bottler, Signatory Vintage focuses in part on rare single casks.
