Special Features:

An Oloroso finish shapes this Glen Elgin anniversary bottling. Duncan Taylor selected the single malt for its The Octave range and bottled it to mark Kirsch Import’s 50th anniversary. The small cask format is used for finishing: it provides a greater internal wood surface area relative to the volume of liquid than larger casks.

The whisky was distilled on 18 September 2015 and bottled on 14 September 2026 at ten years old. Cask 8452155 yielded 74 numbered bottles at 53.4% alcohol. The whisky retains its natural colour and is not chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals dried fruit, including raisins, alongside dark berries. Roasted nuts, a little caramel and delicate spice notes add further detail.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied on the palate. Sherry sweetness combines with malt and oak, complemented by dark chocolate and spices.
• Finish: The medium-long to long finish is warming, leaving spicy impressions of dried fruit and wood with a subtle nutty note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Elgin is located in Scotland’s Speyside region. Completed in 1898, the distillery operates six stills and traditional worm tubs: water-filled vessels in which alcohol vapour condenses inside coiled pipes. Until 1950, a paraffin engine, a water turbine and paraffin lighting were features of its operation.

Independent bottler Duncan Taylor is responsible for cask selection, finishing and bottling. Founded in 1938, the company began in Glasgow as a whisky cask merchant and broker. It has its own warehousing, bottling and cooperage facilities in Huntly. The Octave range grew out of experiments with smaller casks, in which already matured whiskies undergo an additional period of maturation.
