Special features: This 49-year-old single malt whisky from the closed Glen Mhor Distillery was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the "Private Collection". It matured in a refill sherry hogshead and was released in a limited edition of 170 bottles. Each bottle is packaged in an elegant wooden box.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Sweet aromas of pickled raisins, complemented by notes of sour cherry and cocoa powder. Over time, impressions of caramel toffee, polish, and mature oak develop.
- Palate: Fresh orange peel combines with brown sugar and a berry coulis. Flavors of baked apple emerge, accompanied by a hint of menthol.
- Finish: Long and full-bodied with lingering spice and citrus notes.
Distillery/Bottler: The Glen Mhor Distillery, founded in 1892, was known for its innovative production methods, including the use of Saladin boxes for malting. It was closed in 1983 and demolished in 1986. Gordon & MacPhail is a renowned family business known for bottling rare and old whiskies.
