Glen Moray Elgin Classic Peated combines the gentle side of Speyside with a distinctly smoky character. The distillery uses both barley dried over peat smoke and its traditional barley malt. Together, they produce a lightly peated spirit with characteristic bonfire notes.

The whisky matures in American oak casks, which contribute vanilla and oak notes. These complement the peat smoke, while creamy vanilla provides a gentle counterpoint on the palate. This Single Malt is bottled at 40% alcohol and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, peat smoke mingles with vanilla and tart rhubarb. A hint of leather adds to the aroma.
• Palate: Peat smoke is immediately apparent on the palate, accompanied by gentle spice and creamy vanilla notes.
• Finish: The finish is long. Sweet and spicy oak smoke notes remain distinct to the very end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Moray is located in Elgin in Speyside, on the banks of the River Lossie. The distillery grew out of the Elgin West Brewery, which had brewed beer since 1830. Whisky spirit first flowed from its stills on 13 September 1897. Its production methods include distillation in traditional copper stills and maturation in American ex-bourbon casks.

Glen Moray's exploration of different casks dates back to its beginnings: its very first spirit was filled into Marsala and sherry casks, among others. In 1999, the distillery released whiskies with Chardonnay and Chenin-Blanc finishes, building on this early variety of casks. From 2014, the Classic Collection continued this approach with further cask finishes; the Peated Single Malt added a smoky expression to the range.
