American oak maturation followed by marrying in first-fill bourbon casks shapes this 25-year-old Glen Scotia. This full-bodied single malt combines fruity sweetness with Campbeltown's maritime character. It is bottled at 48.8% without chill filtration or added colour and comes in a wooden box.

Glen Scotia 25 Year Old won the Best in Show award at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pronounced maritime freshness leads on the nose, recalling Atlantic air and sea spray. Vanilla, oak and spicy fruit aromas add further layers.
• Palate: On the palate, coastal freshness, red apple and zesty orange peel combine with the sweetness of vanilla syrup and caramel.
• Finish: Sea salt and a spiciness reminiscent of ground ginger linger through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Scotia was founded in 1832 as Scotia Distillery and is located in Campbeltown on Scotland's Kintyre peninsula. By 1835, it was one of almost 30 distilleries in the town, which became known as the whisky capital during the Victorian era. Parts of the historic distillery survive today, including the mash tun, still house and traditional dunnage warehouse.

Rather than malting its own barley, the distillery sources Scottish malted barley to its own specifications. Longer fermentation times and slower distillation are among the developments in its production methods. Glen Scotia makes both peated and unpeated whiskies; production using peated malt is usually limited to around six weeks a year.
