Glen Scotia Campbeltown Saga No. 1 Whiskyopolis – Vintage 2011 Medium Peated

Special features: The "Campbeltown Saga" series from Glen Scotia honors the rich heritage of the Victorian whisky capital Campbeltown. For the first release, Master Distiller Iain McAlister selected rare, medium-peated first-fill bourbon casks that are only used during the one-month production window for peated spirit. This limited whisky presents itself in its purest form: not chill-filtered and without coloring.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Warm peat smoke aromas combine with fresh green apples and a hint of grilled pineapple. In the background, creamy vanilla and melted brown sugar emerge, accompanied by maritime notes.
  • Palate: An intense smoky flavor harmonizes with vibrant citrus notes of zesty lemon. A coastal mineral quality and salty caramel complement the spicy smoke.
  • Finish: Medium to long, characterized by lingering smoke and warm ember notes. Maritime accents and a fine sweetness elegantly fade away.

Distillery/Bottler: The Glen Scotia Distillery was founded in 1832 and is one of the few remaining distilleries in Campbeltown. It produces single malt whiskies known for their maritime character and complex smokiness. The distillery employs traditional methods and emphasizes authenticity and quality.
