Special Features:

This single-cask Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength release was distilled at Glen Spey in 2008 and matured for 15 years in refill bourbon barrel 16601706. Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky on 22 April 2024 at 55.6%; the cask yielded 204 bottles of 0.7 litres each. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Maturation in a previously used bourbon barrel accompanies a fresh, sweet fruit profile: barley sugar meets lime and kiwi, while apple and banana shape the palate. Menthol brings a cool accent to the finish. The bottle comes in gift packaging.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Spey is located in Rothes, in Speyside. James Stuart established the distillery in a disused mill in 1878; after its sale to W&A Gilbey, it received its current name in 1887. Glen Spey operated with two stills until its expansion in 1970, after which it had four. The distillery’s own single malt releases are rare.

Independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail is a family business based in Elgin. Since its founding in 1895, the company has had its own casks filled with new spirit at Scottish distilleries, then matured the whisky either there or in its Elgin warehouses. This longstanding work with casks provides the background to its Glen Spey single-cask releases.
