Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 52.5% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
A 31-month finish in first-fill Oloroso sherry butt 373070, made from European oak, shapes this twelve-year-old bottling. Distilled in 2013, the Glen Spey was bottled by James Eadie in 2026 at 52.5%, with the butt yielding 445 bottles. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.
Dark dried fruit, sweet sherry, roasted nuts and dark chocolate define the first impression. Fruitcake and toffee lend the full, rounded palate a gently spiced sweetness, while dried fruit and cocoa linger on the finish.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose is intense with dark dried fruit and sweet sherry, complemented by roasted nuts, spices and dark chocolate.
- Palate: The whisky is full and rounded on the palate, where fruitcake and toffee combine with a gently spiced sweetness.
- Finish: The long finish persists with dried fruit and cocoa.
Distillery/Bottler:
Glen Spey is located in the centre of Rothes in Speyside and produces whisky primarily for blends. Its whisky therefore appears as a single malt mainly through independent bottlers.
James Eadie is an independent Scottish bottler that matures and bottles selected single casks and small batches. For this release, the company took on the Glen Spey single malt, gave it a 31-month Oloroso finish in butt 373070 and bottled it in 2026.
