Special Features:

This cuvée brings together whisky from four distinct red-wine barrique finishes. Distilled in 2012, the single malt first matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks. For the finishing stage, Billy Walker selected barriques from the French regions of Languedoc and Médoc, alongside Italian casks previously used for Grattamacco and Recioto della Valpolicella. Only then did he combine the matured parcels.

The ten-year-old whisky was bottled in 2023 at 48%, without chill filtration or added colouring. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, light fruit, heather honey and dried red berries appear alongside ginger, caramelised biscuit and gentle spice.
• Palate: On the palate, orchard fruits, orange zest and honeycomb come together, followed by plum syrup, figs and glazed cherries.
• Finish: Cinnamon, ginger and red berries emerge on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The GlenAllachie was built in Speyside in 1967 and began production in 1968. Billy Walker acquired the distillery in 2017 with Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson. Since the acquisition, The Glenallachie Distillers Co. Ltd. has operated it as an independent company. Previously, the distillery mainly supplied whisky for blends; under its new owners, it launched its first core range of single malts in 2018.

Today, the distillery ferments its wort in eight stainless-steel vessels and distils it twice. Billy Walker and his team monitor maturation in the warehouses on site and decide whether a whisky should be transferred to another type of cask for further maturation. Walker applied this approach to cask selection for the four wine finishes in this distillery bottling.
