Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 61.9% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
The whisky was distilled on 13 October 2014 and then matured for more than ten years in Barolo Wine Barrel #9900202. In July 2025, GlenAllachie bottled it as a ten-year-old Speyside single malt at a cask strength of 61.9%. The single cask yielded 292 bottles for the Kirsch Exclusive selection.
The influence of the Piedmontese red wine barrel emerges in ripe cherries and dried berries alongside butterscotch, aniseed and candied ginger. Mocha, orange peel, cinnamon buttercream, heather honey and gentle pepper continue the fruity, spicy profile on the palate.
The whisky was released as an official bottling with natural colour and without chill filtration. Bottling it at its natural cask strength preserves the powerful character imparted by the Barolo barrel.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, ripe cherries and dried berries mingle with creamy butterscotch. Aniseed and candied ginger add spicy depth to the aroma.
- Palate: The palate is powerful and full-bodied, with mocha, orange peel and dark fruits. Cinnamon buttercream, heather honey and gentle pepper complete the profile.
- Finish: The finish is long and warming, with dry notes of cherry wood, spicy pepper and lingering hints of mocha, orange peel and dark chocolate.
Distillery/Bottler:
The GlenAllachie Distillery produced the single malt, and the whisky from this single cask was released as an official bottling. Kirsch Exclusive denotes the exclusive selection associated with this release.
Billy Walker, Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson acquired the distillery in 2017 as The GlenAllachie Distillers Company. Nine months after the acquisition, the first GlenAllachie single malt core range under their ownership was released in 2018.
Today, around 50,000 casks mature in 16 warehouses on the distillery grounds. Billy Walker and his team monitor their development and decide whether an additional cask type could add further complexity or whether the right time for bottling has arrived.
