Special Features:

This Glenfarclas spends its entire nine-year maturation in Oloroso sherry casks, rather than receiving their influence only through a final finishing period. The whisky combines fruity and spicy impressions with vanilla sweetness and nutty notes. It is not smoky.

The whisky is bottled at 44.1% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in a blue cylindrical tin. Its colour develops without added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, grapes mingle with cinnamon and a subtle peppery bite.
• Palate: The palate reveals gentle vanilla sweetness. Almonds and hazelnuts complement ripe dates and a delicate oak note.
• Finish: The sherry character lingers on the finish, leaving a dry impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas is situated in Scotland's Speyside region and is run by the Grant family, whose distilling tradition spans six generations. Its copper stills remain directly fired. For maturation, the distillery uses traditional dunnage warehouses, where the casks are stored close to ground level.

The focus on Oloroso grew out of trials within the family: after comparing different sherry casks, George Grant's grandfather chose this style of sherry. Cask selection has shaped Glenfarclas's style ever since. Retaining the natural colour imparted by the casks is also part of the distillery's approach.
