Special Features:

Grande Couronne initially matures for 26 years in American and European oak casks. The whisky is then finished for two years in rare French Cognac casks selected by Malt Master Brian Kinsman. The bottling contains 0.7 litres and has an alcohol content of 43.8%.

The French name Grande Couronne means “great crown” and refers to its place in Glenfiddich’s Grand Series. This expression combines long-aged single malt with an unusually extended Cognac-cask finish. The additional maturation period enhances the whisky’s sweet toasted oak and velvety texture.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is lively and expressive, with pronounced sweetness from toasted oak. French pâtisserie, freshly baked tarte Tatin and buttery choux pastry shape the aroma.
• Palate: The whisky is deep, velvety-soft and richly sweet on the palate. Café crème and soft brown sugar are accompanied by delicate spice.
• Finish: The finish is very long and fades with sweet oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown was founded by William Grant. In 1886, he began building it with his nine children and a stonemason; spirit first flowed from its copper stills on Christmas Day 1887. The water from the Robbie Dhu spring was one of the decisive factors in choosing the location. Glenfiddich remains part of the family-owned company William Grant & Sons, which releases Grande Couronne as an official distillery bottling.
