Glenglassaugh Sandend combines maturation in bourbon, sherry and Manzanilla casks with a tropical, salty coastal character. This whisky carries no age statement and takes its inspiration from the crescent-shaped Sandend Bay, where the distillery stands. It is one of the three expressions the brand introduced in 2023 and is an official bottling at 50.5%. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, soft, buttery vanilla ice cream notes mingle with tropical fruit and chocolate. A hint of sea salt complements the sweet aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, salted caramel meets lively pineapple, cherry and grapefruit. A maritime touch accompanies the fruit.
• Finish: The finish is long, subtle and slightly tart. A delicate spice note lingers alongside it.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenglassaugh Distillery stands on Scotland’s northeastern coast between Sandend and Portsoy. Its water comes from the mineral-rich Glassaugh Spring on Durne Hill above the distillery. After distillation, the whisky matures in coastal warehouses, including traditional dunnage warehouses. The spring water, the setting beside the bay and the North Sea air connect its fruity, salty style to its location.

Colonel James Moir founded the distillery in 1875. Following extended periods of closure, production most recently resumed in December 2008; Brown-Forman acquired the brand in 2016. Master Blender Rachel Barrie brings more than thirty years of experience in the whisky industry. She grew up in Aberdeenshire and learnt to surf in Sandend Bay.
