Special Features:

Glengoyne 18 Year Old is a Highland single malt matured for 18 years. Its pronounced sherry-cask influence comes from a generous proportion of first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, complemented by hand-selected refill casks. This cask selection combines ripe fruit with nutty depth and dark sweetness.

This non-smoky official bottling is offered at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Banana, dark chocolate, coffee and caramelised almond add to the aromatic spectrum.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, red apple and ripe melon initially come to the fore. It then develops towards warm porridge with brown sugar.
• Palate: On the palate, macerated fruit, marzipan and walnut are followed by warm spices, dry cocoa and lingering Seville orange marmalade.
• Finish: The finish is long, warm and dry.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glengoyne Distillery produces and bottles the 18 Year Old itself; Ian Macleod Distillers owns both the distillery and the brand. To create its non-smoky style, Glengoyne uses unpeated barley, distils particularly slowly and has the designated oak casks prepared for years before they are filled with spirit.

Founded as Burnfoot in 1833, the distillery stands in Dumgoyne near Killearn, on the southern edge of the Highlands and close to Loch Lomond and Glasgow. The boundary between the Highlands and Lowlands runs through the site. The distillery has been known as Glengoyne since 1905 and was acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2003.
