Special Features:

The Glengoyne Time Capsule brings together three official bottlings in a gift box: Glengoyne 12, Glengoyne White Oak and Glengoyne 15. Each miniature contains 0.05 litres. The two age-statement whiskies are bottled at 43%, while White Oak is bottled at 48%.

The cask selection highlights the differences within the set. For the 12-year-old whisky, European first-fill sherry casks and American first-fill bourbon casks each account for 20%, while the remaining 60% comes from selected refill casks. White Oak matures exclusively in North American first-fill bourbon casks and new American oak casks. The 15-year-old malt marries whisky from first-fill bourbon casks (20%), first-fill sherry casks (25%) and refill casks (55%).

The non-smoky trio ranges from citrus, honey and caramel through the more pronounced oak character of White Oak to the dried fruit, vanilla and warm spices of the 15-year-old whisky. The bottlings contain no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Glengoyne 12 combines coconut oil and citrus zest with honey and dry oak. Glengoyne White Oak offers vanilla cream and delicate citrus notes with lively oak. Glengoyne 15 reveals malt flour, fresh hay, dried fruit, citrus and rose hips.
• Palate: On the palate, Glengoyne 12 presents toffee apple, ginger, orange and shortbread. Glengoyne White Oak combines crème brûlée with candied lemon, marmalade cake, fruit jelly sweets and tinned pineapple. In the 15-year-old malt, gentle sweetness and a hint of tropical fruit mingle with candied lemon, cinnamon, vanilla and apple pie.
• Finish: Glengoyne 12 has a soft finish with sherry, oak and delicate cinnamon spice. White Oak leaves toasted oak and caramel behind. Glengoyne 15 finishes smooth and dry with gentle spices and lingering wood.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glengoyne Distillery has been distilling in Dumgoyne near Glasgow since 1833. Its barley is dried using air alone, and Glengoyne distils particularly slowly. The oak casks are prepared over several years. The three single malts in the Time Capsule are official distillery bottlings. Glengoyne is now owned by Ian Macleod Distillers.
