This 25-year-old Speyside single malt belongs to the Sample Room Collection, named after the workspace where The Glenlivet assesses cask samples and experiments with different finishes. For this bottling, the long maturation is complemented by a finish in two distinct cask types: first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and Tronçais oak Cognac casks.

The combination of casks broadens the distillery’s smooth, fruit-led character with concentrated fruit, chocolate, honeyed sweetness, citrus, warm spice and toasted oak. Chocolate ganache, plum jam and Manuka honey form a rich core, brightened by lemon zest, cinnamon and orange blossom.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, caramelised ginger and toasted oak mingle with a hint of lightly charred pineapple.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet figs and blood orange meet warming ginger and a delicate woody note. The texture is full-bodied and velvety.
• Finish: The finish is long and sweet, with gentle spice notes lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Glenlivet traces its history to George Smith, who became the first licensed distiller in the parish of Glenlivet in 1824. It is regarded as the oldest licensed distillery in the Glenlivet valley and is known for its fruity, floral single malt style.

In the Sample Room, cask samples are assessed and different finishes are explored to develop the house style further. The Sample Room Collection applies this approach to long-matured bottlings such as the 25-year-old Double Cask.
