The Original is the starting point of the Glenmorangie range: this twelve-year-old Highland single malt matures entirely in bourbon casks. The longer maturation deepens its smooth, creamy character while preserving its vibrant fruit notes.

Glenmorangie uses copper stills with 5.14-metre-high necks to produce its spirit. This long upward journey allows particularly light vapours to reach the top, helping to shape the delicate, fruity spirit. Subsequent maturation in bourbon casks adds creamy vanilla, honey, peach and vibrant citrus notes. At 40%, the whisky remains smooth and approachable while offering a layered flavour profile.

Cask management is also part of the house style: Glenmorangie uses its selected maturation casks only twice so that the wood continues to impart sufficient flavour during maturation. Rather than highlighting an additional finish, this official bottling brings together the elegant Highland spirit and twelve years of bourbon-cask maturation. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, citrus fruit and ripe peach combine with a gentle vanilla note.
• Palate: Vanilla comes forward first on the palate, followed by floral fruit notes. Honey, orange and ripe peach complement the smooth, creamy profile.
• Finish: Almond and coconut linger with a hint of maple syrup in the long, nutty-sweet finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Glenmorangie Distillery was founded in 1843 in Tain, in the Scottish Highlands. The whisky for The Original is distilled there. As an official bottling, it belongs to the Glenmorangie brand’s core range. The tall copper necks of the stills allow particularly light vapours to rise, helping to shape the delicate, fruity house style.

Alongside distillation, Glenmorangie pays attention to its raw materials and the selection of maturation casks. The distillery uses Scottish barley and has purchased the surrounding land to protect the quality of its mineral-rich water. Its oak casks are used only twice for whisky maturation. For The Original, Glenmorangie combines its light spirit with a full twelve years of maturation in bourbon casks, creating a creamy single malt shaped by citrus and peach.
