Special Features:

This twelve-year-old single malt first matured for eight years in American white oak casks that had previously held bourbon, followed by four years in rare Palo Cortado sherry casks. This was Glenmorangie’s first release finished in this type of cask.

It is the third release in the Barrel Select Release, a small-batch series for which Dr Bill Lumsden brought together selected casks. The whisky was distilled in early August 2010 and bottled at 46% on 25 August 2022.

Dark plum, milk chocolate, Brazil nut and sweet spices form the release’s characteristic sensory profile.

This 0.7-litre bottling is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Toffee, fudge and vanilla mingle with mossy notes and a hint of mulled wine. Honeyed ginger and milk chocolate truffles with cinnamon then emerge; with water, orange sherbet powder, carnations and Brazil nuts come to the fore.
• Palate: The mouthfeel is oily yet peppery. Toffee with dark sugar syrup and milk chocolate meets clove, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Raisins, dark plums and bitter orange are accompanied by rye bread and salted nuts.
• Finish: The finish is long and nutty, fading with spice, leather and a delicate note of aniseed.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Glenmorangie Distillery stands in Tain in the Scottish Highlands. Its history began in 1843, when William Matheson and his wife Anne established a distillery. Its exceptionally tall stills give the vapours ample room and contribute to the distillery’s delicate, fruity character.

Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation, developed this release from casks he selected. Glenmorangie bottled the whisky itself as an official distillery bottling.
