Special Features:

A finish in an Oloroso Sherry Hogshead shapes this 13-year-old Speyside single malt from The Whisky Cellar’s Private Cellars Selection. The whisky came from cask No. 4135, which yielded 170 bottles at a cask strength of 50.1%. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Spice and dried fruit sit alongside roasted orange, toffee and vanilla. Dark chocolate, sherry and oak accompany the warm finish. The bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cinnamon, chocolate mint and a little nutmeg mingle with dried fruit, particularly dates and figs.
• Palate: Roasted orange peel and pepper come through on the palate, while toffee, vanilla and a subtle nutty note round out the full flavour.
• Finish: The long, warming finish brings dark chocolate and lingering sherry notes, with sweetness, a little oak and spice that persists.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenrothes Distillery is in Rothes, Speyside. It distils deliberately slowly in tall stills; prolonged contact with copper helps produce a light, fruity spirit.

The Whisky Cellar is an independent bottler based in Edinburgh. Founder Keith Bonnington sources parcels of casks and selects whiskies from them for the company’s own bottlings. For the Private Cellars Selection, The Whisky Cellar chose this Glenrothes from cask No. 4135 and bottled 170 bottles of the whisky.
