This Glentauchers matured for 30 years in a refill barrel: it was distilled in March 1996 and bottled in June 2026 for Cask Series 028. Limited to 125 bottles, the release has an alcohol content of 55.7%, retains its natural colour and was not chill-filtered. Its age, precise distillation and bottling months, and small outturn distinguish this rare Speyside release.

Warm, buttery and spicy apple strudel opens the nose, complemented by barley sugar, cinnamon and dried orange slices. On the palate, the profile shifts towards fruit pastries and dried fig rolls, supported by a creamy note of light vanilla. Apple and pear return in the long, elegant finish, accompanied by finely crushed pistachio. Fruit, sweetness and nuttiness remain balanced to the end.

• Nose: On the nose, warm, buttery apple strudel, barley sugar and cinnamon mingle with dried orange slices.
• Palate: Fruit pastries and dried fig rolls appear on the palate alongside a creamy note of light vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glentauchers Distillery produced this Speyside single malt. North Star Spirits bottled the long-matured whisky as an independent bottler for Cask Series 028. This particular release presents the distillery’s character as a single malt in its own right rather than as a component of a blend.

Glentauchers forms part of Chivas Brothers’ network of Speyside distilleries. The distillery operates three wash stills and three spirit stills and has an annual production capacity of up to four million litres of alcohol. Here, North Star presents its whisky as a rare, 30-year-old refill-barrel release.
