Special Features:

For this XO, GrapeDiggaz blends Armagnacs from the cellars of Maison Aurian that have matured in oak casks for between 12 and 18 years. The blend brings together eaux-de-vie made from Baco, Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes.

This bottling contains no added sugar or colouring and is not chill-filtered. It has an alcohol content of 46.3% and comes in a dark bottle containing 0.7 litres. The pale label with gold XO lettering refers to its origins in the Aurian cellars.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The expressive nose is warm and rounded, yet bright and fresh. Papaya, dried fruit and pineapple chips mingle with dark honey, oak and light tobacco notes. Fresh forest floor and a little moss add earthy accents. Later, a hint of warm rye bread crust and ginger emerges.
• Palate: On the palate, apple pie, pronounced but rounded oak and further bright, sweetish woody notes sit alongside tobacco and ginger. Candied and fresh, juicy impressions meet gentle spice. Dark honey, forest floor, papaya and pineapple chips are joined by birch sap, star fruit, walnuts, almonds and camphor.
• Finish: The medium-long to long finish is warm and rounded. Ginger, tobacco, apple, almonds, star fruit and camphor linger with a little fennel. A delicate acidity persists longer.

Distillery/Bottler:

GrapeDiggaz is a joint bottling project by Wu DRAM Clan and Kirsch Import. The team personally selects small batches and works closely with the respective producers. For its Armagnac, it partners with Maison Aurian in Condom.

Founded in 1880, Maison Aurian specialises in liqueurs and aperitifs as well as Armagnac. The house is located in Condom in the Gers department. Its maturation cellars, which are more than a century old, have natural stone walls, rammed-earth floors and oak beams; the Armagnacs mature there in oak casks.
