Special features: The Hampden Great House Distillery Edition 2024 is the sixth release of the namesake series and a tribute to the mansion built by the Stirling family in 1779. This limited edition combines several marques from three different vintages and showcases the distinctive style of Jamaican cult rum. The aging took place in ex-bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of Jamaica, resulting in a complex and expressive rum.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: A full aroma with tension. Notes of mint, ripe mango, and dry earth open the enjoyment, followed by quince jelly, blackberry, and orange marmalade, which add a bolder accent.
- Palate: Clear and vibrant. Lush tropical notes of coconut, mango, and passion fruit harmonize with warm and fresh sequences, where flavors of chocolate drops, slate, and peppermint tea emerge.
- Finish: Full-bodied and invigorating. The intense aftertaste recalls herbal (Havana cigar) and peppery notes, while various infusions of red fruits and marshmallow provide freshness. The finale becomes increasingly intense, culminating in cranberry and raisin notes.
Distillery/Bottler: The Hampden Estate Distillery, founded in 1753, is located in the Trelawny region of Jamaica, the "Grand Cru" of Jamaican rum. The distillery is known for its heavy, unadulterated Pure Single Pot Still Rums, characterized by five strictly defined production methods, including fermentation with wild yeasts and a minimum eight-year aging in the tropical climate.
