Special Features:

Tropical maturation and the ester-rich HGML mark shape this release in Magnum Series #3. Distilled in 2018, the rum matured for seven years before being bottled by Velier in 2025. The Magnum release comprises 600 bottles of 1.5 litres each. It contains 60% alcohol, is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.

HGML stands for Hampden George MacFarquhar Lawson and denotes a mark with an ester content of 1,000 to 1,100 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol. The aromatic progression moves from fruit, flowers and honey towards increasingly pronounced roasted and tarry notes.

The third release pairs Hampden's rum with photographs by Cristina de Middel. The collaboration with Magnum Photos features images taken during her stay at the distillery. The bottle comes with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines dried grapes and roasted pineapple with acacia honey and vanilla. Over time, cocoa powder, medicinal and balsamic hints of benzoin resin, and resinous notes emerge. With aeration, ethereal herbal scents of savory and rosemary unfold.
• Palate: The rum is full-bodied, creamy and supple on the palate. Apple, pear, banana and pineapple provide intense fruitiness. Gradually, resinous sugar cane notes and ginger link these fruits with lily, dandelion, turmeric and ylang-ylang.
• Finish: The long, concentrated finish reveals freshly cut sugar cane, tobacco, straw and tuberose. An enchanting character gradually unfolds. On exhaling through the nose, tar, charcoal, Bourbon vanilla and star anise remain present. The empty glass reveals artichoke heart and essential oils.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hampden Estate is located in Trelawny, Jamaica, and was founded in 1753. Long fermentations and pot still distillation are part of its production methods. The distillery distinguishes its spirits using different marks with varying ester levels. This classification helps explain the range within the Hampden style: not every rum from the distillery has the same aromatic concentration.

Velier is responsible for selecting and bottling this edition. Magnum Series brings together different rum profiles and photography from Magnum Photos. The third release centres on Hampden and Cristina de Middel, with the photographic presentation complementing the selection of a clearly identified distillery style.
