Havana Club Original – Añejo 3 Años is an aged white rum: its pale gold, straw-yellow colour accompanies at least three years of maturation in white oak casks in Cuba’s tropical climate. It is made from sugar cane molasses distillate. The production process includes blending aromatic, already matured sugar cane spirits with particularly light sugar cane distillates.

After further maturation in white oak casks, the Maestro Ronero selects suitable stocks for the final blend. The rum then rests again before it is filtered and bottled. Cask maturation and careful blending are therefore essential to the character of this pale rum too.

Tropical fruit and wood complement its light profile. As a base for Mojitos and Daiquiris, it brings aged rum flavours to these classic Cuban cocktails. This version contains 1 litre and is bottled at 37.5%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sugar cane molasses and the character of aromatic sugar cane spirits come to the fore on the nose. Fruity impressions are accompanied by a little wood. With some air, tart, fruity and floral notes emerge, recalling lychee and tropical blossoms.
• Palate: On the palate, vanilla and chocolate combine with smoky notes. The alcohol conveys warmth and a refreshing impression. The delicate, restrained fruit flavours recall still-firm raspberries or redcurrants.
• Finish: A light, rather dry rum flavour remains on the finish and fades quickly.

Distillery/Bottler:

Havana Club International S.A. was established in 1993 as a joint venture between Pernod Ricard S.A. and The Cuba Ron SA Corporation. The Maestros del Ron Cubano shape the character of these Cuban rums. Their knowledge of Cuban rum production, passed down through generations, was recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage in 2022.

In the three-year-old Havana Club, the rum masters’ work is particularly evident in the selection and blending of distillates of varying lightness and aromatic character, alongside matured stocks. The balance between lightness and aged character is determined not only by time in cask, but also by this blending.
