Special features: The Heartgow Summer 2026 is a Hercynian Single Malt Whisky produced in Germany in Zorge by the Hercynian Distilling Co. This release forms the first series from this distillery, where a maturation combination of 1st Fill Rye Whiskey casks and Malaga Moscatel Hogsheads is used. The release is offered without chill filtration and has an alcohol content of 48%. The final maturation takes place until completion in 2026. This whisky belongs to the Spring 2026 edition and is offered in a 700 ml bottle.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals a profile of ripe cherries and dried raisins. Intense and dense, notes of dates and figs from the maturation in First Fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry and Oloroso Sherry are added, complemented by chocolate and a warm spice from cinnamon.
- Palate: On the palate, spicy rye bread notes typical of Rye emerge. Full-bodied and oily, sweet dried fruits, caramel, and strong sherry notes unfold, rounded off by spicy accents of pepper and nutmeg.
- Finish: The finish is long and warming, increasingly dry with oak and spice notes, accompanied by dark chocolate and raisins.
Distillery/Bottler: The Hercynian Distilling Co. is responsible for the production of the Heartgow Summer 2026 Single Malt Whisky. The distillery is located in Zorge, Germany, and uses malted barley as the base for its whiskies. The whisky matures in a combined selection of 1st Fill Rye Whiskey casks and special Malaga Moscatel Sherry Hogsheads. This release represents a special edition designed for Spring 2026.
