Special Features:

Heimat Aperitivo combines rosé wine with the distillery’s own gin and other distillates. It is produced in small batches. Wine accounts for 74% of the recipe, with Heimat Gin contributing another 15%. Natural extraction draws out the aromas of fruits and herbs during production. Herbs and spices provide a bittersweet counterpoint to the fruity base. The aperitif contains no colouring and is offered at 15% alcohol in a 0.5-litre apothecary-style bottle.

It can be served over ice or paired with a mixer. To make a Rosé Tonic, top up 0.05 litres of Heimat Aperitivo with tonic water and garnish with a slice of grapefruit.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals ripe orange and grape, accompanied by a delicate blackcurrant aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, thyme’s fragrant herbal note combines with subtle ginger spice. The initial grape sweetness meets a tart bitterness, while the mouthfeel remains balanced.
• Finish: The long finish leaves herbal notes and a dry, spicy bitterness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Marcel, Rouven and Raphael are the people behind Heimat Distillers. Their joint gin project began in 2017; Rouven brought a connection to a family distillery that his father was already running in its fifth generation. After converting a former natural-stone processing plant, they opened their distillery in Schwaigern-Niederhofen in 2018. What began as a gin intended for their own enjoyment thus grew into a craft spirits business.

Heimat Distillers use regional ingredients wherever possible. They cool the still with water from a cistern, saving around 1500 litres of drinking water per distilling day. This practice applies to the distillery’s operations as a whole; the Aperitivo complements the range as a blend of wine, gin and distillates.
