Caraway is at the heart of Helbing: selected caraway seeds and grain alcohol form the basis of this clear spirit from Hamburg. Its recipe, still kept secret today, dates back to Johann Peter Hinrich Helbing in 1836. Bottled at 32%, it combines pronounced caraway notes with a mild taste and subtle sweetness.

Helbing is traditionally served ice-cold and neat, for example after a hearty meal. It can also be enjoyed with tonic as a long drink. This version contains 0.7 litres and comes without gift packaging.

Distillery/Bottler:

Helbing's history began in Hamburg in 1836, when Johann Peter Hinrich Helbing founded his steam-powered grain distillery. His son Christoph Heinrich Helbing continued the business. Initially employing five people, it grew into a large spirits company; around 1900, more than 400 people worked at Helbingschen Dampf-Kornbrennerei und Presshefe-Fabriken AG. Yeast production thus formed part of the company's history alongside distilling.

In 1927, Heinrich Helbing GmbH became part of Norddeutschen Hefeindustrie AG. In 1974, the Matthiesen family, who were behind Borco-Marken-Import, acquired the long-established Hamburg company. The original recipe for the caraway spirit was retained. Selecting the caraway seeds and ongoing quality control by master distillers are part of the production process; Helbing continues to be produced in Hamburg.
