This gift set pairs Hendrick's Original Gin with a teacup and matching saucer. Roses and cucumber slices decorate the crockery, reflecting the gin's two characteristic ingredients. The bottle contains 0.7 litres of gin at 44%, and the set comes in gift packaging.

Rose and cucumber essences complement eleven botanicals in Hendrick's. Production uses two different historic stills: a Bennett Still and a Carter-Head Still. The recipe emerged from hundreds of trials with different combinations. Its floral, fresh character combines with juniper, citrus notes and herbs. A gin and tonic with a slice of cucumber reflects this character and can also be served in the included cup.

Tasting Notes:

• Palate: The gin feels soft on the palate. Juniper, rose petal, citrus nuances and herbal notes form a layered interplay.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hendrick's belongs to William Grant & Sons and is produced near Girvan in Ayrshire, in southwest Scotland. Master Distiller Lesley Gracie, who joined the company as a chemist in 1988, is behind its development. Charles Gordon, a great-grandson of William Grant, commissioned her to develop a gin using the two historic stills. Gracie oversees distillation in small batches of 500 litres each.

Opened in 2018, the Gin Palace provides space not only for production but also for exploring new plants and flavour combinations. Two large greenhouses house Mediterranean citrus trees and exotic plants that would not thrive outdoors in Scotland. They allow Gracie to study plant material on site for further distillation trials.
