Hennessy V.S. combines the influence of predominantly new oak casks with a fruity, fresh character. Matured eaux-de-vie are blended to create this assemblage; V.S. stands for Very Special. Toasted notes shape the aromas, while the palate is full-bodied and creamy.

The blend can be enjoyed neat or used in cocktails and simple mixed drinks. This version contains 0.7 litres of Cognac at 40% alcohol and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Notes of freshly toasted bread, roasted almonds and brown sugar emerge first. More subtle grape aromas follow.
• Palate: On the palate, the Cognac is intensely aromatic, full-bodied and creamy. Vanilla complements the flavour profile.
• Finish: A distinctly fresh impression and floral notes linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Richard Hennessy founded the house in the Charente in 1765. The Irishman had previously served as an officer in the army of Louis XV. Since 1806, the history of its Cognacs has been closely linked to the Fillioux family. That year, Richard Hennessy appointed Jean Fillioux, who had originally joined the house as a cooper, as its first Maître Assembleur and entrusted him with overseeing the reserves of eaux-de-vie.

Today, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde carries on this role as the eighth generation of his family to do so. Together with the tasting committee, he assesses and selects eaux-de-vie. These specialists meet in Cognac every morning at 11 to evaluate the spirits and their potential. Training a committee member takes ten years, during which the team develops a shared language for sensory assessment.
