Volume: 0.5 litres | Alcohol content: 51% | Chill filtration: No
Special Features:
Casks previously used for Moscatel shape this unpeated single malt, the second release in the Mountains series. The whisky matured for just over eight years in Bourbon and Moscatel casks. The Moscatel casks contribute a sweet fruitiness reminiscent of tutti-frutti, accompanied by papaya and vanilla.
High Coast bottled the whisky at 51% in 2,687 bottles of 0.5 litres each, without added colouring or chill filtration.
The Mountains series follows the Origins whisky Berg and celebrates the mountains of Höga Kusten. Borgberget near Stensätter takes its name from an ancient hillfort whose remains can still be seen on the summit. Like Silent Mills and the Harbours Collection, Mountains connects the whisky with the history and landscape surrounding the distillery.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose offers tutti-frutti, jasmine, honey and bergamot.
- Palate: On the palate, pear and papaya meet vanilla pod and orange peel.
- Finish: The long, sweet finish carries light notes of white pepper and heather honey.
Distillery/Bottler:
High Coast Distillery AB began producing whisky in 2010 in Bjärtrå, beside the Ångermanälven river. For its fruity, unpeated spirit, the distillery prepares a clear wort, allows a long fermentation and makes early cuts during distillation. The whisky matures in unheated warehouses, where northern Sweden’s pronounced temperature changes help shape its development in the cask.
